How to Sink All Your Thoughts Into Kitchen Renovation

Have you come up with some grand ideas to help you renovate your kitchen? You may have already thrown a large number of these ideas at your graphic designer for consideration, and they may think that you really have supplied them with everything but the kitchen sink. Perhaps it is now a good time to remedy that as well, as you look more closely at what is often the centrepiece of any kitchen. What kitchens sinks should you consider as you add the finishing touches to your masterpiece?

Double Vision

Of course, much will depend on the available space but assuming that you have a lot to play with, then you can certainly go to town with your sink configuration. To begin with, you could choose a double sink combination, which will allow you to use one for washing and the adjacent sink for rinsing. You could even add a drainer to this second location if you don't have any available space on the countertop nearby.

Alternatively, you could use the secondary sink for food preparation instead, to wash meat or vegetables before using them to create your perfect recipe.

Three-in-One

You may want to go one step further and consider a triple-header, where the middle sink is typically much smaller and thinner and can be used to wash hands or to store some washing utensils. This type of setup goes particularly well if you don't have much depth to play with between the sink and the wall behind.

Surface Modification

You may feel that you can use one sink for all your basic washing and food preparation requirements. Instead, you may decide that you want to modify the countertop that surrounds the sink to help you with drainage. Ask your designer if grooves can be cut into the surface of the worktop and the product installed in such a way that any water can drain easily into the sink. This will allow you to leave dishes to dry on the countertop instead.

Entertaining

You may decide to have one sink on your main countertop and install another on an island in the middle of the kitchen, should you have the room. Some people use this secondary sink for food preparation, or simply use it for entertaining. They may fill it up with ice and present bottles of beer or water if they have invited guests over for an evening soirée.

Making a Decision

Hopefully, you now have a number of fresh ideas and can add even more to the plate of your graphic designer. You never know -- they may have some additional thoughts of their own, and you should carefully consider all your options before you decide.
